What the heck. I approve of this idea from cjdoyle:

Wow- what is it in the air lately? Post after filtered post about how everyone is feeling alone, disconnected, unwanted. It’s not like this is one or two people – it’s like a rash all over my friends list the past few days. Male, female, betwixt, undecided, unconcerned…it seems to be an equal opportunity Brain Weasel Invasion.

Clearly, something needs to be done.

I think we need to have a Brain Weasel Stomping Day.

The problem, as I’ve noted before, is “it’s easier to see the Weasels when they’re eating someone else’s brain.”

So.This is my call to my friends list, and to your friends list, and beyond. This Friday, make an effort to squish someone’s Brain Weasel.

Have a crush on someone? Post a flirty comment in their journal. Admire someone’s skills? Post a comment about it. Just think a person is nifty? This Friday is the time to tell them.

Doesn’t matter if the post you’re commenting to doesn’t have much to do with your comment. Just post those good thoughts. Trust me. People will appreciate it.

Do this for everyone – not just those you suspect are feeling down (After all, you might not be on their Brain Weasel filter). Take a few minutes and help launch people into the weekend with a smile.

And…who knows? Maybe sharing how others make you happy will make you a bit more cheerful in return.

It’s worth a try.

I never got around to mentioning it, but thanks to everyone who signed the Valentines day gadget. It certainly made me feel warm and loved by each and everyone one of you.

I admit to being somewhat curious by two entries, both anonymous:

  Gosh. If only I knew who you were. 🙂 (For the record, you don’t *have* to like filk. It’s just something I do. I do other things as well. :))

Now, I know the whole point of leaving anonymous comments is to be…well, anonymous. But, if either of those anonymous commenters would like to say “hi, that was me”, or indeed, if any of you would like to say anything at all to me, comments on this entry are screened. 🙂

Today, I finally got the answer I’d been waiting for. Ok, now that everyone’s done slashdotting the poor guy into oblivion, let’s give this one a whirl. When I was a kid, I loved Choose Your Own Adventure books. Chris Clarke commemorates The Thirtieth Anniversary of a Suicide. I was just mistaken for a Canadian on rec.arts.comics.strips. You know, every time I think I can no longer be utterly dumbfounded by the stupid things that politicians get up to, along comes a story like this one in Atlanta’s Creative Loafing. “The country is run by extremists, because moderates have shit to do.” “Middle age is when you’re faced with a choice between two evils, and you choose the one that will let you get home by 9:30.” I really have nothing interesting to say right now, aside from being very amused by this icon, which I made from today’s Sinfest. Just wanted to take a moment to wish a happy birthday to my lovely faraway sweetie, aiela. An amusing thread on rec.arts.comics.strips that telynor suggested I share here. We are oh so very bouncy bouncy happy over the opportunity to have sf, alternate history and fantasy author Steve Stirling join us at GAFilk this year.

Yep, that sums up the year, I guess.
