Let’s bring on a classic that’s a foundation of the genre: Buddy Holly’s “Not Fade Away”. The Bo Diddley beat isn’t his, or really Bo Diddley’s either (it goes back to traditional African rhythms), but unlike many white artists who covered blues songs without credit, he wrote this one himself.
