Don’t think, just shoot!

Seen several places, most recently from epi_lj

Take a picture of yourself right now.
Don’t change your clothes, don’t fix your hair…just take a picture.
Post that picture with NO editing.
Post these instructions with your picture.

  1. Shoot first, ask questions later? 🙂

Actually, you look quite nice candid.

    • Also, I took a picture of myself with Photo Booth, but I couldn’t figure out how to go through the steps needed to post it.

[Edit: And then I did. 🙂 See my latest post.]

[Boy, this is much more fun than worrying about the collapse of the entire economy.]

  2. Cute, yet squinty! 😉

    • One of the problems with the iPhone camera is that the control to take a picture is on the screen, which you cannot see if you’re pointing the lens at yourself. I was trying really hard to actually frame the shot, which is why I look so dour — it’s just concentration. 🙂

      • 🙂 My smartphone is a bit better for that but not by leaps and bounds. They mirrored the surface around the lens *slightly* to make it possible to vaguely sight yourself in the camera, and there’s a button on the side that you can push to take photos, but it has lots of other problems, the primary one of which is that it takes far too long and far too many random button pushes and magical incantations to put it into camera mode in the first place, and then it only stays in camera mode for a few seconds before timing out to save battery life or something. I find it almost impossible to use.

At home I have a pretty low-end, non-exciting digital camera, but one feature I really like about it is that it has a swivel LCD that you can move around into a lot of different orientation, and one possible orientation is to make it face forward (sticking out beside the camera) to frame your shot when it’s pointing at you.

      • I have similar problems with self-portraits. I usually use the mirror, though.

    • Y’know, I have *no* idea why it should continue to surprise me at all that people who know my filk friends turn out to be people who know my MOO friends. It happens so often that I really should get over it. But somehow it still does! It’s like… going to a city you visit all the time, and suddenly seeing someone on the street who lives in a *different* city you visit all the time.

      Or… something.

      Anyway. Hi! 🙂

  3. For a moment I found myself wondering where your hair had gone.

  4. you look like a Chasidic rabbi!

  5. Is a good pic of you! 🙂

  6. Dour? Well, you certainly look like you’re concentrating on something, but then, you *are* at work, right? 🙂

    Hasidic rabbi? Well, you’re certainly an observant fellow. [g & d}
