Giving very serious consideration to cutting my hair.

  1. Oh my. I’m not sure i can imagine you with your hair short!

You will be totally hot, no matter what you do. *huggles*

  2. Er.. no.. Samson?

  3. I think there’s something good about shedding old looks. Give it a try! Remember, hair grows back. 🙂

  4. Ummm. Err. Why??? (*sigh*)

    • Because it’s starting to get really annoying to take care fo. And because I feel like doing something radical and different — much like I did when I decided to grow it back out in the first place.

So, if I do, am I losing my chances with you forever and ever? *wink*

  5. I think you should. Can be refreshing & uplifting to get all shorn and cleaned up. Get rid of anything material or spiritual that might be lurking in all that old protein. I prefer less hair on male people, myself.

On that subject, David shaved off his beard. It looks good on him.

As to your freak flag? Ha! Your freak flag will always fly proud and freaky. It’s in the silky tones of your voice. The sweet and mischievous look in your eye. The open wilds of your mind and the juxtaposition of super big dude and gentle, cultured manner. Nevermind you’ve got quite the storehouse of freaky teeshirts, no?

I say go for it. Like your friend says…. hair grows back. Could be fun to be different for a minute.

  6. Tim cut his recently (also shaved off the beard, but that freaked me and the kids out beyond the telling of it, so he grew it back immediately), and has been thrilled at the feeling of short hair -- it’s way easier to keep clean, quicker in the shower, doesn’t get tangled and full of crud on a building site (more of an issue for him than yourself, I’m sure!). Also, as he didn’t hide behind it (I don’t think you do, either) it hasn’t really changed how people see him beyond a quick, “Oh wow! You changed your hair!”.

Every now and again we need a change -- my incredibly red hair after 5 years of Very Blonde was like a breath of fresh air. I love it 🙂 And, as a previous commenter noted -- hair grows back again! (Unlike the tattoo I’ve debated for 8 years now…)

  7. I say go for it. It’s not like it’s a lifelong decision. One day about 10 years ago, I just shaved my head (my hair was to my butt) on a whim, and it was SO great, just for something new and different.

    • Wow. That’s cool! I’ve made dramatic changes and loved the new & different, but WOW! From butt to bald is new and different! 🙂

  8. If you want to do it, go for it.

    • Since I periodically donate mine, and am currently somewhat short, I can’t say anything but … waaaaaaaah ….

If you do, get before, during, and after pictures.

  9. Mmm, I’m also wondering why?
But whatever you do, you’ll still be you -- and if you don’t like it, you can grow it back, even if it may take a while, so… do what you want. 🙂

    *hugs* either way.

  10. two other very good friends of ours, both male, just cut off their long hair. 2008 must be the summer of change. I say go for it -- it is your head and your decision ultimately.

  11. I don’t know if you read Evan’s journal, but we cut his hair off a a little over a month ago -- its was pretty momentous -- he has had long hair for almost 20 years I think. We bought a clipper and I did the cut myself. He was just sick of how hot it made him, and as much as I loved the long hair -- he was ready for a change.

Funny enough many people think the short hair makes him look both more adult, skinnier and younger at the same time. If you are interested in the transformation -- he posted pictures at his journal.

  12. I lopped the majority of my hair off back in April, a good foot or so. Granted, it was so I could donate it to the Locks of Love campaign…

As others have stated, if you don’t like it, you can just let it grow out.

    • I will certainly be donating it if I lop it off. My ponytail is currently 15″ long, so it’s plenty long enough to send.

  13. DONT DO IT!!!!!!

Ugg, the thought of another one losing the long locks is just more then my 2 little brain cells can handle.

Then again, you can always grow it out again and donate it next year 🙂 Thats what I do but I make sure I leave at least 6 inches in the back so I can continue to tie it back
