A mind-numbing meme of staggering pointlessness

It’s another questions meme, this one courtesy of <lj user=epi_lj>.  One day, I want to either do or fund a sociology study on these lists of questions, we can determine exactly what age between 13-15 writes them. 🙂  (If anyone has a list of more mature questions, I’d love to tackle them.  By mature, I may or may not mean "smut" *grin*)

First thing you wash in the shower?

My hair.

What color is your favorite hoodie?

Here’s our first hint that this survey was written by a teenager. I don’t actually own a hoodie.

Would you kiss the last person you kissed again?

There’s really only a couple of people in my life that I have kissed before and would not kiss again. Kissing is awesome. (And in this case, the last person I kissed was . I kiss a lot.)

Do you plan outfits?

I have a lot of separates that I can mix and match to create various outfits. Obviously with several of my suit jackets, there are pants that specifically go with them, but which tie I choose to wear often depends on what shirt I choose to wear, since certain colours go better together than others.

I take a great deal of care with how I dress, but it’s mostly done in the moment, rather than planned in advance.

How are you feeling RIGHT now?

A bit sleepy, becuase I was up much too late last night playing DJ on turntable.fm with and some folks from the Frogpants crew.

What’s the closest thing to you that’s red?

A bag of cough drops. Or the light on my phone that indicates that I’m logged in. They’re both roughly equidistant in opposite directions on my desk.

Do you say aim or a-i-m?

Aim. My AIM is true.

Tell me about the last dream you remember having?

The last dream I remember having is not for public consumption or admission.

Did you meet anybody new today?

The guy selling pizza in the lobby wasn’t someone I’d seen before.

What are you craving right now?

A variety of things that are bad for me.  And it’s only 3 in the afternoon.

Do you floss?

Not often.   I  know I should.

What comes to mind when I say cabbage?

Bubble and squeak.

When was the last time you talked on aim?

Are you emotional?

Yes.  So is pretty much everyone.

Would you dance to the taco song?

Is this a meme?  I’ve not heard of the taco song.  Having said that, I  probably would.   I’ve danced to just about everything.

Have you ever counted to 1,000?

Yes.  Once, in an attempt to overcome insomnia, I did it backwards.

Do you bite into your ice cream or just lick it?

Both, though more often than not, I eat it with a spoon.

Do you like your hair?

I miss my hair.

Do you like yourself?

Not especially, but other people seem to, so I suppose I’m all right, I guess.

Have you ever met a celebrity?

Dear lord.   I’ve met so many celebrities in my lifetime, I don’t know where to start.   At least, for some values of celebrity.  I’ve met any number of working actors, writers, and musicians.  I’ve had drinks with many of them, and got snuggly with one or two.  Fandom tends to make you less star-struck over time.  They’re just people, making a living.

Do you like cottage cheese?

I like it well enough, especially with some sort of fruit like fresh peaches.

What are you listening to right now?

A training video.

How many countries have you visited?

Two.  (I suppose three, if you count this one.)

Countries I’ve lived in:

My land’s only border lies around my heart.

Countries I’ve gone to on vacation for at least 24 hours:

England.

Countries I’ve visited for less than 24 hours as part of a larger vacation:

Canada

Countries I’ve only been in an airport in:

This has yet to come up for me.

Are your parents strict?

Another hint as to the age of the survey writer.  But to get into the spirit of the question:  my mother found, in retrospect, the perfect balance between boundaries and freedom to let me grow into the person I am.  While I didn’t always think so at the time, I cannot think of a single punishment I ever received I didn’t actually deserve, and I was allowed a lot more freedom growing up to chase my passions than I think most kids were.  (My mom is awesome, if you didn’t already know.)

Would you go sky diving?

I’d like to say yes, because I think it would be an incredible experience.  The only question is whether or not I could overcome the fears.

Would you go out to eat with George W. Bush?

I find it hard to imagine the circumstance where this might come up, but sure, I would.  I think GWB was an awful president, but I never thought he was  an awful person.  I find it perfectly easy to be friends with people I fundamentally disagree with about a lot of things.

Would you throw potatoes at him?

Um, no.   I wouldn’t throw potatoes at anyone.  I’m not inclined to throw things at people, and if I were inclined to throw things at people, I’d be inclined to choose better weapons than a spud.

Is there anything sparkly in the room you’re in?

*I* am in the room I’m in.

Have you ever been in a castle?

Nope, can’t say that I have..

Do you rent movies often?

Almost never, but I’ve taken in recent months to watching random things on Netflix streaming.  And of course, we catch the odd film on HBO.  Almost everything else I watch on DVD I buy to keep, rather than rent.

Who sits in behind you in your math class?

My last maths class was 23 years ago.  I don’t remember who sat behind me.  (I do remember some of the people who were IN that maths class, but the seating arrangements escape me now.

Have you made a prank phone call?

Not really.  Never much saw the point in it.

Do you own a gun?

Not anymore..

Can you count backwards from 74?

I imagine so.  It doesn’t often come up.   (That’s an alarmingly specific number.)

Who are you going to be with tonight?

kitanzi.

Brown or white eggs?

No preference, really.  I like both.

Do you own something from Hot Topic?

I don’t believe so.  I doubt Hot Topic sells anything that fits with my current style.

Ever been on a train?

Oh yes.  I’ve gone all over England on trains.  Haven’t ridden one in the US in recent memory, not counting local transit systems.

Ever been in love?

I have been.  I am.  I shall continue to be for the rest of my days.

Do you have a cell-phone?

Yes.

Are you too forgiving?

I’m not entirely there’s any such thing.  Forgiveness is something you do for yourself.  It has nothing to do with the person who wronged you.

Do you use chap stick?

Rarely.

What is your best friend doing tomorrow?

Ah youth, when the concept of having a *single* best friend wasn’t utterly incongruous.

I suppose my best friend is my wife, and tomorrow she and I celebrate our seventh wedding anniversary.  So that’s what at least ONE of my best friends is doing tomorrow.

Can you use chop sticks?

Yes.  I learned a long time ago at a hibachi restaurant in Raleigh, GA, when I was a young teenager.

Ever have cream puffs?

Yes, but I can’t recall the last time when.

  1. Once I re-wrote a Christmas-themed survey to be Jewish.

  2. I’m 52, and I own a hoodie. Actually, I own several [g].

    • *grin* And I know many adults who wear them, but none who would occur to ask someone else what their favourite one was, without questioning for even a moment that of course they own one. (Of course, the maths class question was a bigger tip. *grin*)

      • Yeah, the maths class question (and I don’t know why the Commonwealth habit of pluralizing it bothers me so, but it’s as bad as not putting an article in front of the word hospital [g]) really was the tipoff.

My favorite hoodie is my teal blue one [g].
