What kind of day is it…?

It’s a bright blustery day here, with a cutting wind that attacks the bones and whips your hair this way and that….a good day for sitting inside next to a fire in a large comfortable chair, with a mug of hot cocoa and a good book, and maybe, later in the afternoon, a little soft music to waft about the rafters while you sit and trace lazy lines in the air above the fire with your eyes, with a small warm cat curled on your lap purring contentedly as you idly scritch her behind the ears.

That’s what kind of day it is.

Today’s Random Chuckle…

Got this off of a mailing list. Of course, I tend to see it as a list of suggestions for the workplace, but I’m odd that way…

A Small Piece of Heaven

I’ve been saying for about 4 years that someone should start up an all 80s format radio station in Atlanta. I’ve loved 99x’s “Duplex of Retro Pleasure” since it debuted, and have often lamented that it’s only an hour long and at a time I can rarely listen to it.

Well, my prayers have been answered. 105.3 WMAX in Atlanta has debuted an all 80s format — they’re apparently still doing their demographic testing, which means like as not it’ll disappear just as soon as I’m used to it being there, but I’m going to enjoy it while it’s here.

Thanks to my friend Charis for turning me on to it!

Long Distance Valentine

You’re a thousand miles away, so we can’t spend the day together. And yet, we are closer than the miles, because I carry you in my heart always. I can close my eyes and see your smile lighting your eyes, feel your soft touch, and relax in the warm and certain knowledge that you are there and thinking of me.

I am very happy that you are now a part of my life — you are a continual source of light and joy for me.

I love you so very much.

Happy Valentines Day.

It’s been a busy two weeks in Lake Wobegon….

Another long overdue update, but life gets busy from time to time. Behind that cut-tag below is a fairly boring account of the last two weeks, but if you’re interested.

Together, they fight crime!

Another funny link, thanks to gridlore.

He’s a shy Amish stage actor from the ‘hood. She’s a cosmopolitan wisecracking college professor with an MBA from Harvard. They fight crime!

He’s a lounge-singing umbrella-wielding Green Beret on the hunt for the last specimen of a great and near-mythical creature. She’s an artistic thirtysomething politician with the power to bend men’s minds. They fight crime!

Try it! 🙂

(PS. Post with actual me-content to follow. Busy week….)

Link of the Day

Ok, this is just too funny not to share. 🙂
