30 Day Song Challenge – Day 9 – A Song That Makes You Happy

Day 9 of the song challenge invites us to share a song that makes us happy.ย  This is another prompt where there are literally hundreds of songs I could choose from – I used to have a playlist in iTunes entirely comprised of pick-me-up songs, that I could turn to when I needed that energy.

For today, though, one of the most reliable songs from that list.ย  here’s The Vince Guaraldi Trio, with “Linus and Lucy”

I literally bought the soundtrack CD just to get this song.

Does it have to have lyrics? Some of my happiest musical moments are of scores without lyrics. But for happy…lyrics I don’t understand because they’re in a language I never learned: “Karibe Taki”, sung by Yma Sumac. Glorious.

Can’t hear this one without singing along! ๐Ÿ™‚

Ok, I figured out this link thing. This is a silly joke between me & Catie Santiago -- https://youtu.be/SsmVgoXDq2w

One of my favorite songs of all time. Reminds me of driving along curvy backroads on a sunny fall day with the windows down and leaves scattering out on the road behind me. https://youtu.be/DtAITPpMzWI

I should get the sheet music to “Linus and Lucy”, and try to play it. It’s tricky because the two hands are working quite independently.

When I’m feeling down, I usually reach for the music of Roger Hodgson, formerly of Supertramp. But it’s more comforting than happy.

If I want a song that gives me happy feet, there’s this:

And this one. I love the chord changes in the chorus.

And this one. I’ve seen a video of him performing this live with a detached-keyboard Minimoog (my favorite synth axe).

I just consulted a youtube playlist I made called “BE IN A GOOD MOOD,” and while I *could* share that entire list, I’m going to go with this one: https://youtu.be/XVuHoQ4lDpc

I love everything I’ve heard from Carbon Leaf. I need to take a deep dive into their catalog.

Rob Wynne I’ve seen them live a bunch of times. I love them. (if you don’t have any of their albums, I’d start with Indian Summer and Echo Echo. The live albums are a lot of fun, too.)

I first discovered them via this Avengers fanvid, and then Brian Richardson recommended I look more into them, and I started to but got sidetracked, so I really should get back around to them. ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh man, that’s good! But WOW, what a tearjerker. Wanderin’ Around is definitely more upbeat. ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh yes. I rewatched it after posting it just now, and it still gets me right here *taps heart*

That vid is just…perfect, too. I mean, the scene selection, the editing, the paring of visual sequences with the lyrics…it’s a masterclass. I don’t know if it’s the best fanvid I’ve ever seen, but it’s a contender, for sure.
